The Wauwatosa School District recognizes exemplary contributions of educators in the growth and achievement of our students. The Distinguished Service Award recognizes teachers, administrators, specialists, and support staff who empower students, seek innovation and continuous improvement, and demonstrate inclusion, equity, and social responsibility in their work.
There is no limit to the number of Distinguished Service Awards in any given year. Our School Board members will use specific rubrics to determine the winners.
Eligibility
At a minimum, nominees must meet the following criteria:
At least 3 years of total service in the district
Has not been a winner the past 3 years
Must be an active employee of the district (if resigned or retired, they are not eligible)
The rubric for determining teachers, administrators, specialists, etc., recipients includes the following areas: Leadership & Impact, Mentoring & Collaboration, Educational Advocacy, Innovation & Creativity, and Community & Engagement.
The rubric for determining educational/operational staff recipients includes the following areas: Commitment to Excellence, Positive Impact on School Culture & Climate, Going Above & Beyond expectations, Collaboration & Teamwork, and Longevity & Reliability.
