Child Development Screenings. Set your child up for success in school! 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Fridays: October 2, December 4, February 5, and April 2. Open to all children who live in Wauwatosa and will be 3 years old on or before the screening date. This free screening will assess your child's communication, motor skills, social and emotional development, and pre-academic skills.

Wauwatosa School District will offer free Child Development Screenings from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Fisher Administration Building, 12121 W. North Ave., on the following Fridays:

  • Oct. 2, 2026

  • Dec. 4, 2026

  • Feb. 5, 2027

  • April 2, 2027

The screenings are open to all children who live in Wauwatosa and will be 3 years old on or before the screening date.

Screenings will assess your child's communication, gross and fine motor skills, social and emotional development, and pre-academic skills. Families will receive a summary of results and recommendations in the mail.

Following this screening, you can:

  • Confirm your child is securing important foundational skills for future learning.

  • Identify a need for further assessment.

  • Receive information about child development to promote early learning.

  • Access information about additional community resources.
